How to detect a new version of a redistributable software already exists?
The IS version I use is 2008 professional.
In Sequences->Installation->User Interface, I added a custom action to install a redistributable software, suppose its version is 2.0. If the redistributable software on the target PC is version 3.0, it would fail to install the redistributable software, and the installation exits.
Is there a way to figure out that there's a new version of the redistributable software on the target machine so that this step can be skipped?
Thank you!

Hi,
Maybe there is a registry key (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE) indicating that the software is already installed.
Greetings H
