FLEXNet Connect update will not install
I have IS 2008 Express. This morning the software update manager popped up to say there was an update to the FLEXnet client.
When the install package runs for the update it produces the following error:
Error 1402: Could not open key.
KEY_LOCAL_MAGINE\Software\Classes\Interface\{4E8D2EBE...747C8233A6E2}\ProxystubClsid. Verify you have sufficent access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
I am runninxp XP SP2 all service packs/hot fixes installed.
I am logged on with an account that is a member of the domain admin group. I have added my account as a member of the local computer Administrators group.

Can you check your access privledges to the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Interface\{4E8D2EBE-E169-4E29-A05E-747C8233A6E2}
This appears to be a problem registering the file:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\ISDM.exe
You can check individual registry key permissions using:
regedt32.exe
Thanks,
Mike

When MSI installs, it uses the SYSTEM account. You are probably going to run in to lots of MSI installation issues with the SYSTEM being blocked in the registry.
