Error 27514: This installation requires a Microsoft SQL Server

Hi, Have just got a problem back from a customer. They received the following message when running the SQLValidate "Error 27514: This installation requires Microsoft SQL Server. The specified server ... is a Microsoft SQL Desktop Engine or SQL Server Express".

It is an SQL Express instance, but it should be able to install on Express instances. I have tested it on other Express instances but it only brings up the message on 1 of 5 computers that i have tested with Express. Has anybody received this error? Is there a fix/work around?

Please make sure that the "Allow installation to Microsoft SQL Desktop Engine/SQL Server Express" option in the Requirements tab is checked.
