Digital signing on Windows 2008

I'm using InstallShield 2015 to create an MSI file.

On my Windows 7 (64 bit) machine, I can specify a pfx file and password, and it will sign the MSI file.

On my Server 2008 (32bit) machine, it can't sign the file. It fails with error -1027.

I've looked for what might cause this:
1. Improper pfx file or password - nope, it works on Win7, and works on 2008 when I use signtool.exe directly

2. Signtool.exe is missing - it seems that earlier versions of IS needed it in either the support or system subdirectory of Installshield. I copied it to both of those without any luck. (It's not in any subdir of IS on my Win7 machine.)

Any help would be appreciated,
Brian

Hi Brian,
there is only a limited support for SHA256 signing under Vista an Server 2008.
I had also problems to get SHA256 signing run on Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008.

I think the only solution is to upgrade to Windows Server 2008 R2 which has a full support of SHA256 signing.

Cheers Joerg
