Default Desktop Icon on Windows 7

Hi.

When installing my application into the C:\Program Files\... directory of Windows 7 (both, 32 and 64 Bit), the desktop and start menu shortcut show the Windows default icon (instead the program's icon).

Checking the shortcut's properties:
- The path to the executable is correct
- Working dir is OK
- Icon itself is correctly selected (first icon of the executable).

If I manually select the already highlighted icon and save, the icon is shown correctly (after acknowledge of the UAC message).

Btw,
If I install to C:\AppName\ instead of C:\Program Files (x86)\, everything is fine.

How to get the correct icon on Win 7 without manual interaction?

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Tom

In case it matters, I still use IS11. The program is installed by Installscript (no MSI).

I'm seeing the same thing on some of my installs. If the desktop is refreshed or Windows is restarted then the correct icon is displayed so the correct file is being installed.

Why is Windows 7 not loading the correct icon in the first place?

What I am seeing is the correct icon for the shortcut (matches the .EXE) but when I edit it, the icon points to something from the install and NOT the .EXE. It's still the correct icon but would think it would reference the .EXE like it did when I set it up in my InstallShield project (.ISM).

Why is that? TIA.
