Creating a Tag Creator ID

I need to create a Tag Creator ID (a parameter in Software Identification Tag). Where does the regid part come from? Are there any rules for its creation? Anyone have an example of a Tag Creator ID?

The inline help for the Tag Creator ID tells you most of what you need to know. If you want to be certain, you might have to acquire the ISO/IEC 19770-2 specification.

For some example registration IDs, look in C:\ProgramData for the folders whose names start with regid.

It does tell me a lot.

Except where the regid comes from. Must I subscribe to some certification authority provider to get a regid?

Don't you love a standard that you have to pay everyone like ISO to comply too...

Regids are designed for decentralized creation; they use the ownership of a domain name. You just need to know the first month your entity (business, whatever) owned it, and make it regid.1885-01.com.example-domain if the entity creating the tag owned example-domain.com starting in mid December, 1884.
