Code signing, certificate authorities

I do need to get a software publishing certificate for IS2008.

I went through the list of certificate authorities of MS and found the price differences to be quite huge.

Is there an advantage of choosing one over another, ie verisign or comodo?

I always get my code signing certificates from Comodo. They seem to have the best prices and I've never had a problem with them. They seem to be no different than Verisign. However, that's just my opinion. I've had their code signing certificates for two years and can't find any reason to spend more money with Verisign.

For code signing, at least get a 2048-bit certificate. ALSO, please make sure you get the certificate and also an .SPC file.

You see, to do One-Click Installs, InstallShield will require you to have all three files, .pfx, .pvk, .spc. Now, there are posts on the net that say you can generate your own .spc. But, I have spent a lot of time using various tools and have never had any success doing this. So, you'll want to get the .spc file from the Certificate Authority at the time you buy your certificate.

Hope this helps.
