Change product name in control panel -> Add remove programs during upgrade scenario.

Change product name in control panel -> Add remove programs during upgrade scenario.

In installshield project (.ism) 2010 professional edition modified product display name to new name. But during upgrade scenario it is failing with below error. But it is working with clean installation.

MSI (c) (1C:0C) [13:56:05:845]: Product: Product name 2022 -- Configuration failed.

MSI (c) (1C:0C) [13:56:05:845]: Windows Installer reconfigured the product. Product Name:  Product name 2022. Product Version: x.0.0.xxxx. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: General Electric Company. Reconfiguration success or error status: 1603.

 

Can you help us how to solve this issue. We were trying to add 2022 as suffix to the existing product name.

What type of upgrade are you attempting?

I believe that you can only change the ProductName of your installer for a Major Upgrade.
