i created a large installation routine using installshield 2008 pro. i also added a patchconfiguration to it. it builded patches for me.
but now when i try to build a patch using build patch button it does not do anything. it does not start to validate the packages and it does not build anything. there is no output in output window and no error message at all.
when i start a new test project the build patch button will do its work as usual.
the configuration of my patch is like that.
setuprelease 3.1 (previous)
setuprelease 3.2 (latest)
where the changes between 3.1 and 3.2 are just a single file (.ocx) and some reg keys ...
when i use build menu i see an output entry for performing patch / upgrade validation. but also there is no update.exe.
i dont have any clue which settings i could have changed to cause such a behaviour in installshield.
this occured on a windows xp virtual machine. i was able to solve it using a reboot.
whenever i build the release, i am not able to build any patches after that. when i restart installshield after building my release i am able to build patches until i build a release.
