Basic MSI vs MSI Database
Hi,
I noticed that I can create and install *.msi file with both Basic MSI Project and MSI Database project types.
1. What is the difference between Basic MSI Project and MSI Database project?
2. What is the difference between creating msi file created with Basic MSI Project and msi file created with MSI Database project?
Regards!

The Basic MSI project is probably what you want. The MSI database contains only information about the data to be installed on a target system---what files, registry data, shortcuts, etc.---while an InstallShield project also has information about build configurations and the like. The output of building a Basic MSI project is an MSI database.
Please see the help topic "Project Types" for a bit more information.
