Basic MSI and MSI DataBase
What is the difference between Basic MSI Project AND MSI DataBase ?
I must to create an installation package with three features, each of wich, I execute some custom actions and some configurations (Configuration of SQL Server, Create and Configuration of a Service, Edit of some files in INSTALLDIR and in TEMPDIR, launch .exe etc. )
What is the best way ?
I want a standard technology, that I can bring to another tecnology eventually!
How I move ?
thanks for all replies

You want Basic MSI.
Basic MSI is a source code project that you author and build into an MSI database.
MSI Database takes a built MSI and allows you to examine and make various changes to it. It's basically ORCA on steroids. It's not intended for 'developing' installers.

Quite right: using an MSI project is like changing a recipe and then cooking it, while editing an MSI database is like trying to change a dish that's already been cooked.
