Authentication using Licence Key or Serials
Hi
I'd would like to know if there is functionality in installshield 2008 professional where I can limit the number of installs our customer can make with our software.
They are only ever allowed to install the client software once on one machine.
Is it possible in installshield to control this using either serial numbers or licence keys (which my company can arrange for)? If so, how can this be handled.
Any help/recommendations would help.
Thanks.

I am not sure if there are any direct support from installshield to enable your requirement. But, I have done something similar in one of my packages by making use of a reg key.
I created a boolean reg key which gets set to 1 when the package is installed. This key was made permenant, so that the uninstall will not remove the key and the value.
Next time when the package gets executed, it checks for the reg key value and if it found to be '1', the package aborts.

Thank you soorajganga. But how about preventing the deployment of the CD to multiple machines?
Thanks Debbie.
Has anyone done this without Flexnet?
