A question about file type association
What I want is to associate .s*p (Extension with a wildcard character) with my product, which means when I double click a *.s1p or *.s2p file, my product would launch. This seems impossible, any ideas?

I'm not sure Windows supports wildcard expressions in registered extensions (other than .*, for verbs registered for any extension); I imagine you'll need to register the two extensions separately.

Confirmed, you're right. He needs to register the two extensions separately using INSTALLSHIELD.
If you want to support wildcard expressions, need powershell scripting in CustomAction method.
