.734 Extension
When I try to open a .ism file it is bakcup with .734 extension, wich version of installshield is it?

That is InstallShield for Windows Installer 1.10.

I can't tell you exactly by any stretch, but that it fairly old. If you look here on this link you can find something mentioned as old as .765 (next to last link for InstallShield 12 Express) and then the last link which is just warnings about upgrading from something older.

So, while it may convert it, what you end up with may not be quite what is expected.
I've found it best not to skip over too many versions, 2-3 at most, for a conversion or it just doesn't work right.

Thank you for your valuable responses. I’m evaluating a project developed under visual studio c++ 6.0. I see that the visual studio 6.0 installation includes a version of installshield (InstallShield for Microsoft Visual C++ 6, version 5.10) but this version don´t open the .ism files. The people that developed this sw are not in the company now and for these reason I’m investigating what is necessary to generated a installer (msi file).
As you indicate, because it is a very big jump many errors appear in the conversion (to 2016 version). That's why I was looking for information about the version of installshield used initially.
