backslashes removed from a network location

Why is backslashes removing from a network location .

Ex:i am providing a network share location like

\\hostname\shared folder its removing backslash and taking as

\hostname\shared folder .earlier it can able to take i have deleted tem files caches everything after that it could not able to take back slash

can any body give me solution for this

i found solution for this,i am trying to provide the shared network folder path without creating shared folder.

i created shared folder then tried the backslashes wont removed .
