Enterprise wide auto upgrade

We have a product version 1.0 deployed on PCs - the installer was built via IA 2010.

Now, there is a newer version 2.0 coming out and we would like to auto upgrade all 1.0 software with the one bundled in the latest. This could mean adding new stuff for 2.0 and removing stuff from 1.0 that is no more relevant.

I have seen http://kb.flexerasoftware.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalID=Q112993 but since the deployment is huge, we would like to avoid going to each PC one at a time to do the upgrade.

Just like how we install patches for IA (via Software Update Manager), is there anything similar for the installers that we build with IA?

What does it take to do this? Or is there any alternative?

As far as I know, there isn't anything. There used to be something, but a long time ago.
