Custom code to get registry value
I want to check if VS2005 is installed on the machine. So, how do I write a custom code to get the value from the registry?

You don't need to write custom code for getting a registry value, there's already a built-in action in IA for that: just go to the Install task, click on Add action, and then check the General tab.
