Can't install IA 2008 on Linux

I am trying to install IA 2008 on my RedHat Enterprise Linux 4, but gives error about not having a VM installed on the system.
How do I fix this? Isn't IA install supposed to provide a VM???

The only way for me install it on Linux was to have JDK 5 on my path.

I could not install with 1.4 neither 6 JDK.

I also ran into the same problem had to use jdk 1.5. I thought IA2008 bundled it's own JVM just like InstallShield because the saw the message about extracing JRE...blah..blah. So why does IA2008 installer need another JVM installed on the machine ?

IA uses the LaunchAnywhere technique which under Unix uses .sh files in order to determine which JVM to use. Try to launch sh -x installer.bin in order to see more output (most likely the wrong JVM (one installed on the system instead of the bundled one) is chosen).
