What are the regularly spaced time intervals (11:29:20, 15:29:20, etc.)?

These times do not seem to correspond to when the client PC "Compy1" was running, or when the licensed software was running on the client PC. Can you explain what is going on?

  1. Does the license server attempt to contact the client PC at regular intervals?
  2. On these intervals, is the license server communicating with the licensing service on the client PC or the licensed software on the client PC (even though the software was not in use)?
  3. Does the client PC maintain a heartbeat with the license server, even if the licensed client software is not running?

Thanks in advance for any explanation.

Hi @benFlex ,
If the license is being returned (checked-in) once the client application is closed then there will be no communication between the license server and the client.

Hi @benFlex Can you please check https://community.flexera.com/t5/FlexNet-Publisher-Forum/Terms-in-Vendor-Daemon-Debug-Log/td-p/290839 and let me know if you have any more query?

Hi @mrathinam

I previously found that linked post but did not find the answer I was seeking. This part is related, though:

6. What data is printed in the log if there's no license activity between the clients & server for straight 4 hours?

-> Need more test however as per my understanding it will be no history report if there was no activity after the last report. However, if any connection is made then it may report based on that time duration only from the last report completed date and time.

In my log file there are the regularly spaced time intervals (11:29:20, 15:29:20, etc.). These times do not seem to correspond to when the client PC "Compy1" was running, or when the licensed software was running on the client PC. Is that a communication between the client PC and the license server even when the licensed software is closed?

Most simply, I want to know if there is a case where the client PC connects to the license server (or vice versa) when the licensed software product is not running (when the licensed software on the client PC is closed)?

A yes or no answer is appreciated.

Thank you.

Thank you @Yvernekar for your quick response.

I understand your answer is "No, there is no communication between the license server and the client PC after the licensed client application is closed."

This answers my main question. Thank you!

As a final follow up, am I to understand anything from these lines of my log file - the regularly spaced time intervals (11:29:20, 15:29:20, etc.) that can be seen in the snippet I included in the top post? These times do not seem to correspond to when the client PC "Compy1" was running, or when the licensed software was running on the client PC.

According to your answer these lines do not signify any kind of communication. Is there anything to be understood by these lines?

Thank you again for resolving my main question.

In your case, I do not think they signify any kind of info. But generally, when the check-outs check-ins are happening it does signify the last few request processing time.
