FlexLM Licensing - Vendor Daemon "Invalid Host"
Hello! I am new to FlexLM and new to the forums, so please forgive me if I am posting on the wrong board or lack knowledge.
I've been having issues running FlexLM's vendor daemon due to licensing. I have been communicating with the vendor, but they are fairly stumped, so I'm asking here to see if I can get answers. I've looked through previous forums to find an applicable answer, but was not fruitful.
The vendor is LynxOS 2.2.2, with FlexLM v11.4. I can run the license server, but when the vendor daemon attempts to run, it exits with "Status 25 (Invalid Host)". I have LynxOS licensed on a separate machine (unrestricted air-gapped), and followed the same steps for the current machine (on a secure network). Still, I'm met with this error after trying a few slightly different license keys. I have some thoughts/questions.
- The host name contains a domain. Is this domain extension needed within the license file?
- There are 2 composite IDs for the 2 network adapters. Does it matter which I use? The vendor told me either will work.
- Can the license file handle underscores in the host name?
- Could the secure network be blocking some essential communication? Note we have opened the firewall for the license server and vendor daemon.

First of all the FlexLM v11.4. is very old and out of support. However, by reading the error code, it looks like there is a mismatch b/w the hostname of the Machine and the hostname/id provided in the license file. Could you please confirm the same?
- The hostname contains a domain. Is this domain extension needed within the license file?
Feedback:-Ideally the hostname should match with the hostname provided in the lic file. - There are 2 composite IDs for the 2 network adapters. Does it matter which I use? Feedback :- either will work.
- Can the license file handle underscore in the hostname?
Feedback :- I don't think "_" is a valid hostname character for hostname, but it can vary based on the platform - Could the secure network be blocking some essential communication?
I would expect different errors if it is a connectivity issue.
Please feel free to open a support case with us, so we can investigate in detail.
