IBM had updated the Processor Value Unit (PVU) points ruleset on 13th February 2023 in their official website here https://www.ibm.com/software/passportadvantage/pvu_licensing_for_customers.html . Same updates were included in the SKU/PURL/Bundle and ARL released on 24th February 2023 via version 517 and 2730 cab files respectively.

There were few concerns raised on existing license consumption impacts due to these changes. We have analyzed and figured out that 1) detailing of sockets from the PVU points table and 2) regular expression formula for Power10 processor were the root cause for the unintended impact.

We have reverted the changes from our previous February release. The new rows added to the IBM PVU table are included. A detailed test has been conducted and the concerns raised towards specific Power and SPARC series of processors and the licenses are working as expected.

The fix is now available on last Friday’s ARL release version #2732, published on 10th March 2023. Kindly update to the latest ARL cab file to see the changes.

Kindly raise a support case if there are any other differences noticed on PVU license(s).
