Get "The activation ID was denied" sometimes for a request

Jump to solution

We get sometimes the response "The activation ID was denied" for a request with an activation ID.

On the other hand, the same procedure works fine a little bit later.

Does anyone have an idea what's the root cause of this problem?

This is for example one request which fails:

MessageType="Capability request" Vendor=xxxxxx RequestHostID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx|xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xx|xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx
ResponseTime="Dec 31, 1969 4:00:00 PM" Dictionary=(
Item=( Key=ServiceProductNumber Value=test )
Item=( Key=ProcessorId Value=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx )
Item=( Key=MotherboardSerialNumber Value=xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xx )
Item=( Key=OperatingSystemSerialNumber Value=xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx ) )
ForceResponse=true IdentityName=xxxxxxx DesiredRights=(
Item=( ActivationID=xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx Copies=1 ) )
RequestHostIDType=String HostName=WinDev2006Eval
HostType=FLX_CLIENT MessageTime=(
Timestamp=1599132945 TimestampUnits=Seconds ) M
achineType=Virtual IsServer=false
SourceIds=( Type=String ID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx|xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xx|xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx )
RequestOperation="Normal request" ServerInstance=1

And this the response:

MessageType="Capability response" ServerIDType=String ServerID=BACK_OFFICE SourceIds=( Type=String ID=BACK_OFFICE ) Lifetime=86400
ResponseTime="Sep 3, 2020 4:35:46 AM" LastResponseTimeMilliseconds=0
RequestHostID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx|xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xx|xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx
RequestHostIDType=String MachineType=Virtual Status=( Item=( Category=Public
Code="The activation ID was denied" Detail=xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx ) )

One strange thing I saw in the logs: the

ResponseTime="Dec 31, 1969 4:00:00 PM"

seems not to be correct. In the requests which successfully delivers a licence have the current date and time inside ...

Hi @dstrigl

To follow up on this, there is a known issue when unknown devices register with Activation IDs belonging to "UNKNOWN_ORG_UNIT".  There is a fix in place that will be pushed to Production on the next release (Tues Sept 22, 2020).

Thanks,

Hi @dstrigl ,

I'm not sure offhand, I believe that date field is a known issue.  I'd recommend creating a ticket so that someone from support with access to your site can help diagnose the problem.

Thanks,

Thanks, I already got an information about that from the Flexera support. But thanks for keeping in mind 🙂
