How does ISUS determines proxy settings?

We have installed an app that uses ISUS for updates. We noticed the ISUS couldn't find any updates on one of our servers but could on the others runnign the same app. The vendor said that ISUS couldn't access the internet but thought it was weird since IE could. So I did some digging and it seems like ISUS is looking at HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings instead of HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings for proxy settings. Is that correct? Or is it making a call to Windows/IE and getting the info from HKCU instead of HKLM?

We can "fix" the problem by adding the necessary entries in HKCU but systems added to our environment since a year and half ago won't have these keys as we're managing proxy settings via group policies now and have it set to use machine proxy settings instead of user proxy settings.

Thanks for any insight you have.

Yes, you are correct that Update Service reads Internet Explorer's current user settings. We can look into possibility of fixing it in future, however for majority of users proxy settings are stored on per user basis.

At the same time, please consult following alternative way to set proxy in Update Service.
