Installshield Update Manager Error 5

Summary

The operating system could not schedule Update Manager to start on system startup.

Symptoms

Cause

The error occurs because the application is unable to write to the registry during the installation. This prevents the Update Manager from running a scheduled (daily, weekly, or monthly) check for updates.

Reload the Update Manager from the command line.

  1. Select Start > Run.
  2. In the Open field, type:

    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\ISUSPM.EXE" -bootstrap

  3. Press Enter. The Update Manager should start.
You may choose to ignore this error. However, if you ignore this error, you will have to manually check for updates. For more information, see Changing Settings.
