"version comparison failed" message on /uninst only, successful for Programs and Features
I inherited an InstallShield 2014 project. However, that doesn't seem to be the main factor.
The installation is fine. The problem happens when running the uninstallation procedure.
The uninstallation is fine when uninstalling from Programs and Features.
But the “The version comparison failed. The setup will now terminate.” message will only pop up when using the /uninst command-line flag.
The problem seems related to changing the Product Version under General Information. The value was changed from 8.000 to 8.800.
Using the original value 8.000, the uninstall works from the Programs and Features and /uninst. But after changing the value to 8.800, the uninstall works from the Programs and Featuresl but fails when using /uninst.
Regardless of the version, the setup.exe is rebuilt using Build -> Compile and Build -> Build SINGLE_EXE_IMAGE.
