dll missing in upgrade
Hi,
I am creating a MSI with major upgrade to earlier product. I changed the Product code and kept the Upgrade code as earlier one. In the Upgrade section I chose the option to "unistall completely and then resinstall" and selected the option of
"searching prior product" using upgrade code of the current or new MSI.
I have some binary files like dll in the support files section. They are same in the previos version and new version of MSI.
While testing we observed that new installer does detect the earlier version of product and uninstalls it (but sadly it never gives error like confirmation of earlier installed product and whether to install new one or abort.) but issue comes when it starts installing the new one. It throws error for support files missing. the same MSI works in fresh install case but fails in major upgrade case.
Any guidelines on this will be helpful.
Thanks in advance,
Rahul
