apply transform for 64-bit install?
I have a 32-bit installer, which installs 32-bit components.
I am looking into the possibility of being able to apply a transform to the .msi file to be able to direct file paths and registry keys to the correct 64-bit paths.
For example, instead of installing into \Program Files (x86), the 64-bit installer should install the components to \Program Files. The registry should write to HKLM\SOFTWARE\etc. rather than the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\etc.
When I create the transform, where will I set the master file path and registry key so that the existing installer will install to the correct paths when running in 64-bit Vista?
Thanks,
Don Metzler

This transform would need to change the Summary Information Stream (specifically the template summary must indicate it's a 64-bit package). Unfortunately, transforms cannot do this, so your request is not possible as stated.
