I have just today downloaded a Trial of Installshield Professional 2011. After install it also downloaded and installed a hotfix, so I assume it is now completely up-to-date.
I added an InstallShield Basic MSI project to a large solution (100+ projects) in order to test it. I find that whenever I want to open the Files & Folders view it takes between 5 and 10 minutes (yes minutes:mad:) before it finishes (presumably) compiling its list of all projects/files.
Is this normal behaviour? I am running on a 3GHz Dual Core PC.
I think there are some known performance problems if your directory tree is large enough. I forget, however, whether large means wide or deep, or both. However this should be no worse than previous versions of InstallShield; if anything it should be better in the last version or two. You might want to try simplifying your directory tree, if possible.
