Verifying installation integrity through shortcut???
Hi everyone,
I am working on an InstallScript MSI project with a requirement that each time the application shortcut is initiated it somehow determines if the installed file structure has been tampered with, and if so, revert back to the original before launching the app. I have heard this is possible, and very similar to how many popular MS Office apps notify you that some files are missing and prompts to replace them. However, I cannot find any obvious settings/options in the Shortcuts section of my project. Any ideas? Thanks!

Self repair is standard functionality of windows installer. All you need to do is to make your shortcuts advertised and set up some key files. If any of those key files are missing or changed from a component then that whole feature gets reinstalled. Be careful about making dynamic files such as logs or settings key files. This is quite a big subject and i would recommend reading up on installer self repair and key files
