VC9 Merge Module uninstalling on Vista x64?
Hello,
I am seeing a fun one. It seems that during an uninstall (triggered by a Major Upgrade) the Microsoft VC 9 Merge Modules are being removed on Vista and 2008 x64 platforms. However InstallShield 2008 or MSI seems to think they are still installed and when the new software installs the Merge Modules are skipped.
My application is then getting a Side-by-Side Configuration error.
Has anyone else seen/solved this? Any ideas on what I might be able to do to make sure the VC9 Merge Modules install?
TIA
Dan

So thanks to another post I found that pointed to:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905238/en-us)
I changed how my upgrades uninstalled the previous version, so that it happens after the install. This way the VC9 Merge Module refernce count gets bumped properly. This also required changing all of my Component GUIDs.
Seems real hoaky, but I will take it for now!
