Upgrade
Hi,
Hope someone can help with this as it's driving me mad
I have an installer created in Installshield 2008, I've converted it to an Installshield 2011 version.
I am trying get the new installer to upgrade, I've tried major and minor but neither work. If I do a minor no files are replaced even though I have set them all to overwrite always. The minor detects the previous version as it prompts to say that it will perform an upgrade.
Orginal version number 5.0.0.46 new version number 5.1.0.0
The major doesn't prompt that it's an upgrade, it does overwrite the files, but then I have two entries in add/remove programs. Also when I run the application from the shortcut it ask me for the location of the install package???
Does anyone have any ideas?
Any suggestions welcomed as I'm going around in circles.
Thanks in advance

Go to the Direct Editor and look at the Upgrade table.
Further, go to the Media node in the Installation Designer and configure a Major Upgrade.
It seems you have not performed these steps which is why there are two entries in the ARP.

You need to change product code for major upgrade.

Go to the Direct Editor and look at the Upgrade table.
Further, go to the Media node in the Installation Designer and configure a Major Upgrade.
Configure a Major Upgrade means to change:
Product Version(you already have done it)
Product GUID(Generate a new one from IDE)
Package GUID(Automatically performed if default settings have not been tampered with)
I should have been more granular in my earlier post. Thanks Gayathri
