System Search syntax for standard strings

I want to perform a system search to see if a program was installed in a particular way. Specifically, there's a key in the registry I want to check on. The key is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ESRI\ArcInfo\Desktop\8.0 and the entry I want to check on is a standard string called ".NET Support" which is set to either "TRUE" or "FALSE." I haven't been able to perform this check successfully using System Search and I wonder if the syntax is wrong or if System Search only works with DWORDs.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

You should be able to read ordinary strings using a system search. What are your system search settings? If you create an MSI log file, is the search property being set? In what way are you testing the value (MY_REG_DATA="TRUE", for example)?

That's the syntax I was looking for. Worked like a charm, thanks.
