While creating an MSI with a large number of shortcuts being created (the files, the name and the name of the shortcut varies depending on language) I notice that each shortcut adds a new copy of the icon binary even though it is the same icon source. Anyone know of a way to point each of these shortcut to the same binary data?
Same question but regarding strings in the string table. If there are strings that are being used throughout that are identical in appearance, can they be referenced to the same string in the string table without multiple copies?
I haven't tried it, but if nothing else, you might be able to open the Shortcut table in the Direct Editor view, and modify the Icon field of each record to point to the same value.
As for the string table entries, most views have a string table editor where you can select the string ID of the entry to use, and you should be able to line those up.
