Question about "Setup Types"

Hi,

I am just a newbie for using the Installshield 2009 premier. I only had used the Installshield X express before. As there are much differences between these two, I really need some help for it. Here is my question:

1. I want to modify the setup types so that the user can only choose the "Typical" setup types. it would be better if the the user can't even see the dialog for choosing the setup types. But I can't find the setup types view under the Organization node as the attached image. So, where can I find the place for doing so?

2. Is there any tutorial for this version of Installshield, or a step-by-step guide for it?

Thanks a lot!

1. There is no Setup Types view for Basic MSI projects in the Premier edition. Setup types are basically configured through the Install Level setting. The following resources provide more details:
Setting a Feature’s Install Level Property
Custom Setup Options in Windows Installer

2. The help that is displayed when you press F1 from within InstallShield has some tutorials. (To view the Tutorials section, click the Contents tab in the help. The Tutorials section is the third "book" in the help.)

You might also want to take a look at the evaluator guide if you haven't already. There's a link for it in the following sticky:

The following page has a number of technical white papers:

The Tips and Tricks are also a great resource. To see a list of these documents, visit http://www.acresso.com/products/is/installshield-resources.htm, and then click the Tips & Tricks tab.

I hope that helps.

if you do not want the user to be able to install anything less than the entire package, there is an option for Basic MSI projects that can be set from the Project assistant in the section labeled Installation Interview, if you select NO for "Do you want users to be able to selectively install only certain parts of your application?" the end user will not even see the setup type selection dialog.
