Per user vs per machine

Hey guys,

New to the forum, I hope this is in the right spot. We have admin studio 9 and installshield 2009.

I have an msi, that has been created for per user, i need to change it to per machine. Can anyone help me out with that? With detailed steps, just got the software and don't know too much about it.

Thanks in advanced!

Ryan

Set the property ALLUSERS=1. For more details on All user property, please refer to the below mentioned link:

As I understand it, the only difference between the two as far as Windows Installer is concerned is the setting of the ALLUSERS property. If you want to install per-machine (and you have the proper privileges) just set that to 1.

However, whether your app will work that way depends on what you install. If you install a lot of keys to the user folders or to the user hive of the registry, you will need to research how to advertise those so that each user who starts the app will trigger the Installer to write those keys for him/her.
