Package Code does not differ (but it does)
I am trying to build a patch from one version of my software to the next. I have two uncompressed builds, lets call them v1.0 and v1.1. As far as I can tell, they have distinct package codes, though I can't quite figure out how to look at the package code on an old build.
When I build the patch, I get an error saying:
The package code for the latest setup does not differ from that of the previous version. In order to perform an upgrade the package code MUST change.
Doesn't the package code change on every build?

That depends on your settings on the Product Configuration level of your releases view. By default InstallShield will generate a new one, but you can override it with a chosen package code if you really need one (or if someone else thought it was a good idea). (To be clear I think overriding it is usually a bad idea.)
