I have an installscriptmsi project in installshield 2008. I am using components having files with dynamic file linking. I can't shift to static file linking as the no. of files are very huge in number and the presence of files are also not consistent, it changes from build to build. So, dynamic file linking os beteer for my project. But the problem is that in dynamic file linking there is no as such option as Always overwrite as in static file linking. Can anybody help me out how can i overwrite all of my files during minor upgrade? And i do not want to uninstall all of my files first and then install it.
With dynamic file linking, there is no guarantee that minor upgrade will always work. Since files are added and removed from build to build, it is possible that removed files result in removal of components, which will require a major upgrade.
