Out of space error (1307) with Basic MSI installer

Hi,

I ran into the following error during installation of a Basic MSI package (IS2008).

The package installed several prerequistes (.NET2, ReportViewer, CrystalReport), then it seemed to start installing application files, and then it prompted the attached (inside .doc) error dialog.

It happened both on Vista and W2K (SP4), I am positive that the system got pretty big space (20+ G) on it, which shold not result in such a problem.

Has anyone experienced the same issue and know how to attack it?

Thanks,
PB

Here is the log information, the first part is about the system and environment properties, the second is the context when the error occurs.

The 'file_name.bak' is a compressed database I got from a person. I have to use 'RESTORE' sql command on it to restore the database. I don't know if that file is problemic or not.

Anyways, I can't see any clue that the space is not enough here.

Please help.

The issue might be stemming from the previous note in the log:
MSI (s) (30:2C) [10:39:40:650]: Note: 1: 2304 2: 5 3: C:\

2304 indicates "Error getting disk free space. GetLastError: [2]. Volume: [3]." according to MSDN. Plugging in the values from the log, the GetLastError value is '5' (ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED) and the volume is 'C:\'.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure what would be causing access issues with the volume C:\ as this is possibly a larger issue than the installation.

Josh,

I re-created my project from scratch and the issue didn't show up so far. Idon't know what happened - maybe I messed up somthing in the older project.
