Not again (VS 2010 merge modules)...
So... I open up the merge modules supplied by Microsoft for MFC/MSVC 10.0 redist, and what do I find?
1) They're no longer installing the files to WinSXS - fine, don't mind that at all.
2) None of the components are marked shared, let alone permanent. This just can't be good, especially since they specifically target the System32 directory.
Anyone else make this revelation yet? And if so, did you do what I'm contemplating - namely rolling custom builds of those merge modules, with each component set to shared/permanent?
Thanks,
John

It just occurred to me that perhaps this won't cause as many problems as it would seem, so long as people redistribute those files via the merge modules, right? After all, for every product that installs the component, a reference should show up within the appropriate component in the registry, acting as a ref count...
Still bugs me a bit though...
