Logging prerequisites

I do have an MSI Installscript projects.

I know there is a way to let the setup.exe log the install process to a file, but this logfile starts once the installation of the prerequisite is over.

Is there a way to add a limited logging of the prerequisite (what was shown to the user, what did the user accept, where do we stand in the installations of the prerequisite)?

Some of this information is available in an IS2009 setup when it is run with the /debulog parameter. Unfortunately this is not available for IS2008.
