InstallShield 2010 - Major Upgrade - Install Interrupted
We are doing a major upgrade of a product using InstallShield 2010.
For some users, immediately after launching the update or install, the following content is displayed in a screen. This is not faced by all users.
Install interrupted message is displayed after starting the setup.
This has happened on different OSs (Win XP, and Win 2003) both are 32 bit
InstallShield Wizard Completed
The wizard was interrupted before Encoder Pro could be completely installed.
Your system has not been modified. To compete installation at another time, please run setup again.
Click Finish to exit the wizard.
Tried the following:
- Cleared the cache
- Restarted the machine
Note: Application is not opened during the upgrade process
Please let me know your thoughts/suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your email. It sounds like you will need to upgrade your version of Window's Installer.
You can check the current version you have by following the steps below.
Click on your "Start" button.
Select "Run".
Type "CMD" in to the prompt on the "Run" screen. and then press enter.
This will open a separate window. At the flashing cursor type in "MSIExec" and then press your enter key.
This will open another window that will list the version of your Window's Installer. If it is older than version 4.5, you will want to use the link below to update that from Microsoft.

After you complete the update, restart your computer and then try to install Encoder Pro from either the cd or the download.

Do you have a log of the failed install? The log should reveal more about the cause of the problem.

I eventually executed the setup.exe with logger turned on from the command prompt. I got the error!! 🙂

and the solution was...
