Is there any way to compress this file? I have built the exact same project installation with an InstallScript Project and an InstallScript MSI Project. The InstallScript Project size is 249,623 KB (it does not compress) and the InstallScript MSI Project is 8,830 KB. I cannot give my users a 249,623 KB installation File. :eek: :mad:
The InstallScript engine and runtime adds approximately 2.5MB of overhead to the built media for InstallScript projects. InstallScript MSI projects will have nearly the same amount of overhead.
Based on this, it is unlikely that these two projects contain the same exact installation data. Is the InstallScript project including any prerequisites (.NET framework, SQL Server Express, etc.) or InstallScript objects? These can add to the size of the installation. If the InstallScript MSI project is not including these items, or they are set to download from the web (in the case of prerequisites), the resulting setup sizes will be different.
