I Reset Product Code GUID by Mistake!!

I work for a small software company and I'm the Product Manager for 5 products as well as in charge of creating/updating all installs, documentation and media so... Even though I went to class a year ago on InstallSheild 2008 I have to refocus on installs every time I have a new release...

My problem:
I was having upgrade issues with my setup.exe not updating all files on my test machine and while not really thinking I thought I should reset the Product Code GUID to make sure it would install all the necessary files. Of course after I did so, I see the warning saying this is NOT recommended after software is in distribution...

Is it possible to find the 'shipping' GUID and reset it in InstallShield so the distributed product can be updated correctly?

Any suggestions?

Thank you!
Amy

yes you can find the GUID from registry :

First install the older setup of older GUID.
go to HKLM\Software\MicroSoft\Windows\Current version\uninstall\

here manually check all the GUIDs and find your application name.

You can copy this GUID and reset in IS.

But one simple question: Don't you have the backup of older IS project??

Thank you! I found that last night and I'm almost back to where I was...

As far as a backup of an older project... I found one I made last year and that helped...

Moral of the story...

I will now put projects in Source Safe once finished 🙂
