Is it possible and legal to customize installshield pre defined dialogs and source code?
I want to add a check box to this dialog and some text, if the user selected the check box i would use the infromation for several components i am installing
Yes, you can (and many do) make a private copy of an existing dialog box and edit its layout and behavior. The Sd dialog box source is in the Script\src\isrt directory of your InstallShield distribution, and the help topics under Creating Installations > Defining the End-User Interface > Working with Dialogs can help. These forums should have examples, too.
