How to create a single MSI?

Hi,

We're testing the trialware version of 2008 to see if we want to upgrade but I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to create a single MSI.

In the Build Wizard I choose the following options

Network Image
Create a Single File Executable is DESELECTED
Cabinet file(s) (all components have the Compressed setting set)

And that's it. Now, as I understand it that should create a single MSI file and yet I get a folder with a setup.exe and .cab files!!

Never mind, figured it out. I was creating a Basic MSI Project (as I always did in version 9). Seems you have to create a MSI Database project now.

You can do this in a Basic MSI. Go to the Release view in the Installation Designer tab and run the release wizard selecting the following options:

Network Image - tick
Compress all files - tick
Create installation launcher - leave unticked

You can also do this by using the Project Assistant. The last page, Build Installation, has 4 choices, one of them is single MSI package. Just check that box then click the Build Installation button.
