Evaluating IS: Question About Prereqs

I am evaluating InstallShield 2012 Spring for use and have a question regarding prereqs. Initially it looks like prereqs are either on the machine or not and IS just provides a message saying a needed prereq is not installed and quits.

Is this correct or can it actually handle installing prereqs as needed?

You said app search on Installation Requirements panel of Project Assitant.

For InstallScript MSI and Basic MSI, you can find prerequisities in Installation Desinger -> Application Data -> Redistributables view.
