I have a working installation (build using InstallShield 2010) which works on all flavours of Windows up to 7 and Server 2008 R2. Just tried to install it on Windows 8 for the first time. It gets part way through and actually installs some files before displaying Error 1001 and rolling back and removing the files.
Can someone please remind me of any diagnostics to find the actual failing point etc?
It turned out to be a NET Framework issue. Windows 8 installation only had 4.5 installed. Installed an earlier version required by our "product" and all now OK
