Creating a shortcut for a dynamically linked exe file
What’s the standard practice for pulling the latest version of an exe file into an MSI every time but also having the exe be setup with a desktop shortcut? I believe the only way to get the latest version of the exe every time is to setup a dynamic link for the exe file, but dynamically linked files cant be used for desktop shortcuts? Is that correct? And what is the usual workaround with InstallShield? I can’t imagine that we would have to manually add the latest exe every time as a statically linked file and then create a desktop shortcut off of that, because we cant do that by hand in a pipeline. How do you normally get around that? Thanks in advance
