That should do the trick I would think.
In InstallShield (InstallScript MSI or Basic MSI) if you go to the General Information then in the right hand pane is 3 checkboxes under Fast Install. Judging from that, unless you check the first checkbox, it should create a system restore point for you. If you find it isn't doing this on Windows 2012 R2 without a custom action that might be worth reporting directly to Flexera. Just a thought.
