Change Component & Key File names

The developers I'm working for want to change the assembly names of our product completely. The files currently are in a basic msi, 1 (key) file per component. The component names strongly match the file names.
We only do major upgrades (completely uninstall old setup before installing new setup).

Can I just rename everything? Components, Key Files?
What about the component GUID's?

sure... Yes you can...but only for Major upgrade scenario.
as its complete uninstall and install of a new version which shouldn't cause any issue
